WHAT IS UPPER BLEPHAROPLASTY

Surgery that addresses not just the drooping skin but why it droops

Upper blepharoplasty is a surgery that corrects a drooping upper eyelid through an incision along the crease, tidying the drooping skin, fat and loosened muscle.

DIVA also draws up the levator muscle that opens the eye, to reduce re-drooping over time.

COMPARE

Conventional upper blepharoplasty

Skin excision

Only the drooping outer skin is cut away to form a line. The cause remains, so it can droop again over time.

DIVA upper blepharoplasty

Skin excision + levator muscle

The levator, the muscle that opens the eye, is pulled and connected as well, addressing the cause of the drooping.

  • 01Outer eyelid drooping skin excised
  • 02Inner eyelid weakened muscle strengthened
  • 03Natural, elegant tailored eye design

Skin and the slackened muscle inside the eyelid are treated together, addressing the cause of the drooping, so opening the eye feels easier too.

WHAT IS LOWER BLEPHAROPLASTY

The lower eyelid is the first place to age

Lower blepharoplasty is a surgery that treats bulging fat, sagging skin and lines under the eyes together through an incision beneath the lashes. As the skin thins and loses firmness, the under-eye sags and hollows form.

Through an incision beneath the lashes, bulging fat is tidied and only as much sagging skin as needed is removed, treating lines, sagging and fat together.

DIAGNOSIS

The three causes of under-eye aging

  • Lines

Fine lines and hollows form in thinned skin

  • Sagging

Loosened skin and muscle look heavy

  • Fat

Bulging fat makes you look tired

If only the fat bulges, under-eye fat repositioning may be enough; if the skin and muscle have loosened, lower blepharoplasty is the right choice.

COMBINATION

Combinations that work well with lower blepharoplasty

What is done alongside depends on the under-eye. We look directly and propose only as much as needed.

BASELower blepharoplasty
  • Fat removal

Less bulge, and the loose skin with it

Under-eye fat is removed and loose skin tidied with it.

  • Lateral canthopexy

    Severe sagging lifted and held

The muscle or canthal tendon is fixed to the periosteum to lift severe sagging.

  • Under-eye fat repositioning

The bulge and the hollow at once

Bulging fat is moved into the hollow, addressing sagging as well.

WHAT IS FAT GRAFTING

Filling hollow areas with your own body's fat

Fat grafting is a surgery that purifies your own fat from the thighs or abdomen and places it into hollow areas: forehead · around the eyes · front cheekbones · cheeks · nasolabial folds · chin.

Dedicated equipment keeps the fat from air contact from harvest to graft, managing survival rate and infection risk together.

SUNKEN EYELID BENEFITS

Two side benefits of sunken-eye fat grafting

The degree of improvement varies with the hollowing and the individual.

  • The harvest site tidied

Unwanted micro-fat at the harvest site is tidied along the way.

  • A defined double eyelid line

As the hollow fills, a defined line can be expected without double eyelid surgery.

OUR PRINCIPLE

Not to look younger, but to return to the face that was yours.

Rather than pulling everything taut, we look first at putting things back where they belong. We decide together what to take away and what to keep.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

QI have no double eyelid. Will upper blepharoplasty create one?
Upper Blepharoplasty
Because the incision follows the line, a natural line is created as well. Its height and shape are decided together at consultation.
QWhere will the scar be?
Upper Blepharoplasty
The incision sits within the double eyelid line, so it is hard to see with the eyes open. Scarring varies by individual.
Lower Blepharoplasty
The incision runs beneath the lashes and is closed inside the lash line, so the lashes hide it. Scarring varies by individual.
QHow is it different from a brow lift or ptosis surgery?
Upper Blepharoplasty
Upper blepharoplasty treats drooping skin and the levator; a brow lift raises the brows; ptosis surgery adjusts eye-opening strength. We decide by the cause at consultation.
QHow long is recovery?
Upper Blepharoplasty
Surgery takes 30 min – 1 hour and you go home the same day. Sutures come out after 5–7 days, when light daily activities resume. It varies by individual.
Fat Grafting
About 1 hour, and you go home the same day. Light daily activities resume around 5–7 days; sutures come out after about 7 days. Swelling varies by individual.
QHow is it different from under-eye fat repositioning?
Lower Blepharoplasty
Under-eye fat repositioning goes through the conjunctiva and treats only the fat; lower blepharoplasty uses a sub-lash incision when skin and muscle need tidying too. We decide together at consultation.
QWhat is ectropion?
Lower Blepharoplasty
The eyelid turning outward after surgery. Excising too much muscle raises the risk, so we tidy only as needed and plan lateral canthopexy alongside where sagging is severe.
QWhat about operating time and recovery?
Lower Blepharoplasty
As a baseline, 30 min – 1 hour under sedation; sutures come out after 5–7 days, when daily activities resume. It can run longer with lateral canthopexy, so we confirm the schedule at consultation.
QHow much of the grafted fat remains?
Fat Grafting
Part is absorbed and part takes hold. Survival varies by area and individual; we use pure fat kept from air contact and explain the expected range at consultation.
QHow is it different from filler?
Fat Grafting
Filler is non-surgical and lasts 6 months to 2 years by product; fat grafting uses your own fat for fuller volume. We decide by area and how long you want it to last.
QWhere is the fat harvested from?
Fat Grafting
From the thighs, buttocks or abdomen, where there is fat to spare; harvest-site sutures come out after about 7 days.
